The Church has prepared a 34-page trek planning guide called, "Handcart Trek Reenactments: Guidelines for Leaders".  It is a wealth of information that answers many questions youth and leaders encounter.  This booklet can be found here.

The most effective treks involve inviting members of the group (youth and leaders) to prepare materials to share with the rest of the group. Here are some historically accurate stories from the 1856 rescue that youth and leaders could read or share on the trail or in camp.
